FIL NOIR

Fil Noir

FIL NOIR is part of the Italian sartorial culture, since the history of the brand begins more than a hundred years ago in Certaldo, Tuscany, where the brothers Luca and Lorenzo Manzini took over the manufacture of men's underwear from their father in 1899 and they led it to success.

PASSION

Passionate about sewing and finest materials, with a sensibility for fashion and business skills, they create the first shirts for men. Impeccable artisan production, the best cotton fabrics, exquisite ingredients and fair prices were guarantees of success beyond national borders.

EARTHQUAKE

When an earthquake destroyed the region's yarn factories at the beginning of the 20th century, the brothers made a virtue of necessity: they sewed the only remaining thread, it was black. The immaculate white shirt with black stitching went perfectly with the black suit and thus became the favorite shirt of style-conscious Parisian businessmen: everyone wanted the shirt with the "black thread", the "Fil Noir" - the birth of the brand and a brutal international success story that ends in 1915: Italy enters the First World War, sends its men to the front, and the Manzini brothers have no choice but to close the family business, the end of FIL NOIR.

RESURGENCE

Until the end of 2012, when the Manzini descendants of Swiss Hest GmbH transferred the worldwide license to FIL NOIR and the brand experienced its resurgence almost 100 years after its closure and a coincidence.
